Every human being wants to be successful in life and looks for specific signposts to get there. This two (2) months course is a complete package of biblical principles for success.  It teaches the ‘dynamite’ of purpose that leads to an overflowing life of joy.  It is akin to sitting down to dinner with 50 Biblical Mentors to glean their wisdom from Spirit-filled lives that moved from concept to experience. Fundamental of Christian Growth

There are some essential constituents in every formula without which the final product will be a sham, a chameleon. The Christian growth formula is no less. This is another important ministry gift that Christ gave to the church the competencies of which must be fully embraced. This course, Prophets and Prophecy I, explores the phenomenon of prophets and prophecy in the Scriptures. It begins by examining the role of the prophetic ministers and prophecy, the reason for studying prophecy, and the office of the prophet. It defines prophecy and the different types of prophetic ministers as well as the characteristics of prophecy, in addition to the modes of prophetic revelation, the realms of prophecy, and the purpose of the prophetic ministry.

This course, Prophets and Prophecy II explores the phenomenon of prophets and prophecy in the Scriptures. Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope. This course aims to provide an introduction to students in support of their ministry in the field of trauma counseling. This course provides an introduction to sermon preparation ((principles of Bible interpretation) using the topical sermon as the domain.). Much attention will be given to the practical application of the rules and methods involved. The student will gain a working knowledge of hermeneutical tools, and study detailed information contained in a proper biblical hermeneutic. The student will understand the relationship between custom and intended interpretation, the requirements for studying the Bible, and the danger of faulty interpretation. Demonology

Applied Biblical Counseling: This is a ‘How To’ course intended for students who have already done some counseling work.  It takes the approach of Nouthetic Counseling and applies it to a wide range of issues, topics, and teachings in counseling. The course is divided into three sections; The Persons Involved In Counseling; The Presuppositions and Principles And The Practice And Process Of Counseling.  Topics covered include the legal ethical and moral issues in Christian Counselling, conflict and relationships, abuse and neglect, and counseling the counselor.

Biblical / Christian Counseling

Counseling III: Some of the basic theories and techniques of Christian Counseling are taught by book and Audio lectures in this course.  Special emphasis is given to the recognition and the treatment of the more common psychological problems.  A scriptural perspective on personal problems is presented and blended with sincerity to deep human needs.  The student is taught to identify the negative feeling which added to negative behavior is a result of wrong thinking.  Change is recommended through teaching what, why and how of wrong thinking, and how wrong thinking can be corrected.  The fundamental belief that man is made in the image of God is expressed. The course stresses that God is personal and man needs to recognize this connection with this personal God.  Failure to do this leads to problems.

Pastoral Counseling I: This course deals with the principles and techniques of counseling as applied to the Christian ministry, in particular, the pastor.  It marries theology to the disciplines of psychological pathology and counseling.  The course is divided into four sections: (i) Christianity and Psychology; (ii) The Loss and Restoration of Personal Identity; (iii) The Essentials of Christian Counselling and (iv) The Minister as Crisis Counselor.  The student will complete textbook and practical assignments, research in order to fulfill the requirements of this course.

Advanced Counseling: This course aims to equip the student to minister in crisis situations such as shock, attempted suicide, domestic quarrels, depression, death, divorce, adolescence and various disorders.  It will teach the student to determine crisis and how to apply Biblical principles in such situations.

Counseling in Diversity – This course is a practical and biblical guide for all who engage in diversity counseling.  It sets forth the issues, principles and interventions of counseling especially in terms of marriage, counseling and family therapy. The course highlights seven major challenges that counselors face, builds on them and issues ten biblical principles for the effective therapeutic process.  Biblical techniques for treatment are also dealt with in detail.  The course teaches the principles of becoming a skilled people helper. It contains a practicum detailing actual counseling sessions supervised by a trained specialist in counseling.

Christian Psychology (in Christian Perspective) brings needed diversity to the study of mind and behavior which relate to Christian Counselling. It follows the standard progression of introductory study identifying and discussing issues where faith and psychology seem to be in tension but finally, opening the window to the majestic image of God in man. The course is divided into four elements: (i) introduction to the theme and overview, (ii) discussion of psychological issues; (iii) an exploration of how psychology and biblical perspectives might be complimentary; and (iv) review and suggested readings.  Students would complete essay-type assignments from the text; practical assignments; research assignments and evaluation exercises.

Abnormal Psychology – This course examines the concepts of ‘normal versus abnormal’ within cultural settings and how this can differ depending on the social and cultural norms of the day. Laws of Teaching

Laws of Teaching: This course gives a clear and concise presentation of the seven basic laws and principles of teaching. Biblical examples will be studied especially those employed by Jesus in this teaching ministry.

Teaching Effectively

Teaching Effectively: This course underlines the importance of teaching and teaching effectively.  It highlights the characteristics of people in the major age groups and gives practical guidelines for teaching them.  It is a structured step by step course divided into three sections which will help the teacher to teach with the assurance that the student can and will learn: 

(i) Principle of Teaching, (ii) Teaching the Bible to Youths, (iii) Teaching the Bible to Adults.

Curriculum Development

Curriculum Development -This course emphasizes curriculum design that focuses on the learner as autonomous and creative. It encourages educators and administrators to appreciate and adopt learner-centered principles and practices. The course promotes the development of an environment that sees the importance of physical space and the value of assessment and technological innovation. It advocates the adoption of a learning environment in which students utilize their God-given creativity as they construct their learning.

School Guidance / Psychological Testing

School Guidance Counselling / Psycho Testing: This course enables the Christian Educator to meet the needs of the school population in the area of guidance and counselling. It seeks to bring awareness that this is indeed a specialized area of counselling which requires relevant training and skills. The course will examine the need for awareness and skills in the areas of culture, the developmental stage of the child/adolescent, psycho-social issues, career development, goal setting, educational/academic development and the overall development of the individual. It will emphasize the need for this very important aspect of counselling to be further developed in order to ensure the success of students into healthy, well-adjusted adults who can make a significant and positive contribution to society.

Curriculum Evaluation / Assessment

Curriculum Evaluation and Assessment for Learning:   The course teaches the Christian Education student how to examine the needs of the learner and the evaluation system required to do so. Focus is placed on assessing for learning, including the assessment process and the assessment criteria. In addition, the course reviews the roles of the learner and teacher in meeting the needs of the learner within the educational environment. Topics covered in this course include types of learners; learning activities; process of evaluating; relationships between learners and teachers; and matching the system to the environment.

Methods of Christian Education / Teaching Proficiency

Methods of Christian Education:  This course deals with the various learning styles of people and advances creative methods for teachers and Christian Educators to effectively reach each style.  The course is divided into five sections and the topics covered look at understanding learning styles, and curriculum.

Communication

This course of Study is intended to provide a progressive system, enabling candidates to plan and obtain an effective education in and through the arts, offering skills of organization, planning, problem-solving and resolution, prevention, management and communication, through the study of the arts in performance and theory. It also proposes to enhance the ability in acquiring the personal disciplines and motivation necessary for life-long learning. Additionally, it is projected to provide and enduring love, enjoyment and understanding of the performance arts, from the perspective of both participant and audience.

At the appropriate levels of choice, the students would be involved in Group performance, Sight reading, Solos, Oral communication, Personal and Professional Communication, and Spoken English in Religion

Grades 1-3   Students will be presented with the foundation of the chosen subject.

Grades 4-5   This is the transitional maturing phase, involving students in the more extensive, contextual, imaginative and technical demands of the performance arts.

Grades 6-8   Is the advanced level of performance where students would be involved in innovative performances developed in the context of theoretical, historical and literary understanding.

Communication would be taught via Distance Learning mode (e-books) followed by Examinations from London College of Music

Music

Students who study Theory of Music Grades 1-5 are taught Key signature, Chords and harmony, Pitches and intervals, Scales and modes, Rhythm and rests, Metre and time signature, Transposition and clefs, Ornaments,  and Questions (Italian terms).                                 

Those who study Theory of Music Grades 6-8 are taught Melodic writing and free composition, Stylistic composition/ dance forms/ counterpoint, Decorations, Questions (Italian terms). 

Those who study Popular Music are taught Scales and keys, Chords, Rhythm notation, Knowledge of Popular music, Harmony, and Transposition.

The Theoretical Diploma students (Dip Mus; LCM,  A Mus LCM, L Mus LCM), will study Stylistic compositions, Questions, Comparisons, Short essays, Rudiments, Harmonic analysis, Chorale harmonization, Two part counterpoint, Modulation, Set works, and Orchestration.

Music Literacy would be taught via Distance learning mode (e-books) followed by examinations from London College of Music.
